Abstract
Objective: Determine the frequency of inadequate metabolic control of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 in patients of 18 to 75 years of age according to the value of glycosilated hemoglobin greater. Methodology: This study was descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional. Was selected systematically to 103 patients with DMT2 who were treated in the outpatient clinic of Endocrinology of the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, Cuenca – Ecuador, January – June 2016. The information was gathered through surveys, and was processed in SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Results: The inadequate metabolic control in the individuals studied was 60.2% women 35% and men by 25.2%. The age range with the greatest relevance is between 58 – 67 years with for 40.8%, predominantly overweight or 48.5%. 52.4% have blood pressure within the normal limit. The 66% has a blood glucose fasting over 130 mg/dl, high values of triglycerides 200 – 499 mg/dl in a 46.6%, elevated values of LDL in the blood 160 – 189 mg/dl in 32%, meet drug treatment 89,2%, don’t exercise 88.3 per cent, do not follow a diet 63,1%, 86.4% know at least one complication and there is an association between metabolic control measured by HbA1c and glycemia, LDL, and triglycerides. Conclusions: More than half of the patients with DMT2 presents an inadequate metabolic control.
