Abstract
Background: the evolution of the female sexual function (FSF) goes unnoticed and is given less importance than the male, it is associated with several factors, being frequent in our society. Objective: to determine the factors associated with FSF in medical students. University of Cuenca. 2021. Methodology: observational study, cross-sectional cohort, universe of 635 students, sample of 181 for a prevalence of female sexual dysfunction 15%), we used the "Female Sexual Function Index", the "Cognoscitivist Systemic Inventory to study Academic Stress", and the "Index of satisfaction for couples" to assess sexual function and associated factors. Means and standard deviation will be applied for quantitative variables; frequencies and percentages for the qualitative ones; determining the relationship between associated factors and sexual dysfunction, the Chi square test, prevalence ratio and 95% confidence interval and p value (<0.05) were applied. Results: the prevalence of sexual dysfunction was 34.3%, orgasm disorder and desire were the most affected domains; the dimensions of excitation and lubrication, the least altered. We found a statistically significant relationship between unsatisfied partner relationship and greater sexual dysfunction. Conclusions: more than a quarter of medical students had FSF alterations, which were associated with risk factors such as unsatisfied partner relationships.
