This issue of CEUS Student Journal presents a collection of scholarly contributions that reflect the thematic diversity and commitment to advancing knowledge in the health sciences. The issue opens with an editorial exploring the role of melatonin as an immunomodulatory agent in immune-mediated diseases, highlighting its potential as an emerging therapeutic strategy. The Medicine in Images section documents the clinical and surgical progression of an infected plantar lesion associated with diabetic foot, providing valuable insights into the correlation between clinical findings and therapeutic management.
The Clinical Cases section features two reports of particular clinical relevance: the use of autologous platelet-rich plasma gel as an alternative treatment for lower-extremity ulcers in patients with diabetes mellitus, and the presentation of a giant angiolipoma of the forearm, an uncommon benign tumor that offers important considerations for differential diagnosis and clinical management. The Original Research section presents a study evaluating student satisfaction with the use of ChatGPT as a supportive tool for learning Human Anatomy, contributing to the ongoing discussion regarding the integration of artificial intelligence into medical education. Finally, the Literature Review synthesizes current evidence on the influence of type 2 diabetes mellitus on the progression of the cardiorenal-metabolic syndrome, examining the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and the principal therapeutic approaches currently available.
Collectively, the articles included in this volume underscore the commitment of CEUS Student Journal to disseminating high-quality scientific knowledge through the publication of original research, literature reviews, and clinically relevant case reports that contribute to the advancement of health sciences. This issue aims to foster scholarly exchange, promote the generation of scientific evidence, and encourage critical inquiry among researchers, educators, clinicians, and healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing biomedical research and evidence-based practice.
